The Ekdahl FAR - Configuration utility - Tuning tab
The Tuning tab

The tuning tab presents the most basic parameters of the Ekdahl FAR which are to be used when re-tuning the instrument, changing the string or the bowing wheel.
Pickup analysis
The Pickup analysis field shows the latest fundamental frequency calculated from the sound information through the pickup. This information is only updated when the Live update-checkbox is checked or the Analyse-button has been pressed. The Analyse-Button will engage the hammer and temporarily start the FFT that analyses the frequency information through the pickup. The note name and number here is in reference to a standard 12-tone tuning and is calculated using the current Tuning scheme under the Software tab.
Pitch settings
The Fundamental frequency field sets the fundamental frequency of the string tuning, the drop-down just to the left of it shows shortcuts to common tunings (calculated from the Tuning scheme under the Software tab). Basically here is where you put what you have tuned the string to. The Map to key-field sets which MIDI key that corresponds to the fundamental frequency, also known as harmonic number 0.
Auto calibrations
The buttons here represents, in the order given, the standard calibrations offered and in which order they should be performed. The Calibrate all-button will perform all the calibrations one after each other. See the section Calibrations for explanation of the various calibrations offered.
Harmonic series
The Ekdahl FAR calculates the various overtones or harmonic numbers using the current harmonic series. A harmonic series is simply a list of ratios that are used to calculate the frequency of the wanted harmonic (and in the Ekdahl FAR, the speed of the bowing wheel) using the fundamental frequency as its base.
The most basic harmonic series contains 12 ratios numbered 0-11 where harmonic number 0 is equal to 1, but a harmonic series can have any number of ratios, or notes, in it.
The ratios of the current harmonic series can be edited by simply double-clicking on it and inputting a new number, it is instantly sent to the Ekdahl FAR and any new notes played will be using the edits. The Add- and Remove-buttons will add or remove ratios in the current harmonic series.
The Ekdahl FAR can have multiple harmonic series saved into it and these can be selected using specific commands. The different series' are listed in the Saved series' drop-down and can be loaded by simply choosing one.
Edits to the ratios can be saved into the currently selected harmonic series can be saved by clicking the Save as current-button. The Save as new-button will create a new harmonic series with the edited ratios. The Add new-button will create a new harmonic series with only one ratio in it (there has to be at least one ratio) and the remove-button will remove the series currently selected in the drop-down.
The drop-down next to the Preset-label offers a few standard tuning schemes and will overwrite the currently selected harmonic series with these values.
It is very important to note that any changes made will not be saved unless the user clicks the Save settings-button at the top middle.
